Having been involved in a range of businesses, community schemes and social enterprises I bring a vast range of skills to any board appointment. Strategic thinking, financial scrutiny and data analysis are the key attributes that I utilise in my current Non-Executive Director roles.
I am drawn towards principled sustainable businesses and community ventures. In all organisations how you interact with staff (paid or voluntary) is integral to its success or failure. Candid communication, listening to all opinions and never being afraid to admit when you have made a mistake is at the core of my boardroom style. I am a fully qualified change management practitioner and find if there is a problem, it is more efficient to solve this as a collective.
Currently I am involved in several NED roles remunerated and voluntary, each bringing their own challenges.

School Support Solutions is a start-up educational consultancy which I founded with my wife and is approaching nearly 10 years of successful trading. I am involved mainly with business strategy and finances.
A different skill set is needed at Burford Golf Club where I am involved in financial budgeting and strategic planning and currently chair the greens committee. The club is owned by the members, so communication, transparency and confidentiality are key inside and outside the boardroom.
